St. Agnes of Rome (c. 291 - January 21 304) was an early Christian virgin and martyr. The facts of her life and martyrdom are shrouded in legend. She was a member of Roman nobility who was born and raised in a Christian family. She was martyred at the age of 12 or 13 by beheading.
